Catharsis
February 02, 2015Tonight, I sit back, draw in the essence of the day, and breath out an endless sigh of relief. I can finally let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding
Today I had my first day of work. Today Jen and I found an amazing house in our budget!
Tomorrow morning, I will walk out my front door (at some completely unreasonable hour) with the strut and swagger that only comes from that invisible tag stamped on my forehead. The little boost of pride the comes from a title given to you by someone else. That little bit of vindication that someone, somewhere, believed in you, and wanted you on their team.
It's a small thing, really - but it's huge at the same time!
Today, I am a Molecular Technologist at Signal Genetics. What a title! It's got syllables with a capital S!
And then, our house hunt. We've been particular about where we want to buy if/when we do, and we've been conservative on how much we're willing to spend.
Just like job hunting, we knew that the perfect house was out there. In that area, in our budget. But it was the kind of knowing, the kind of conviction, that slips just a little bit over time. You start to doubt, to think "Well, maybe we can go a little over budget…" or "That neighborhood isn't THAT bad…"
But today, just when we were doubting ourselves, we found a house that really got us both excited!
More importantly though, it was proof that what we want really is out there. And that means that, even if we don't end up getting this one, that we can find one like it.
That is also an incredible relief!
So cheers, World! Let's get back to the busyness of life - once more, with feeling!
