Day 3: Glenwood Springs, Colorado

December 20, 2014

What a town! This picture is a shot of the Hot Springs that give the town its name. Don't be fooled by the picture, that pool is *huge.*
Glenwood Springs is a little vacation town a couple hours west of Denver, off of I-70. It's very small, with a shopping area and a hotel hub surrounded by a little mountain neighborhood.
What makes it unique is the "communal" Hot Springs in the center of town, shared by all of the hotels nearby. It's not a small hot spring either, that sucker is big! And it's lovely too, with lights going the full length of the pool and a perfect combination of temperatures. It does make the whole town smell like Sulphur, but it's worth it!

This is a blurry, flashy shot of the Hotel Denver - which, despite not being in Denver, is awesome! A very cool old-style that has the modern amenities and boatloads of frontier-era charm. And, it's 100% pet friendly, and therefore full of dogs. If you're into that, of course.

It's also attached to a brewhouse/pub that Jen and I both loved :)

We're taking it easy for the next few days. There are a few small towns on our route that Jen really wanted to stop in, while we're going through anyway. We're doing a short tour tomorrow, and then spending tomorrow night at a Kimpton Hotel in Denver.
That brand is important, Jen and I are all about Kimpton Hotels - they do complimentary wine "social hour" for guests, enthusiastically support dogs, and (this was the kicker for me) keep goldfish - as in, fish in bowls - so that if a guest wants a goldfish to keep them company for their stay, one is available.
 I know it's a gimmick, but I'm hooked!

Our adventures continue - tomorrow, Denver!
